3-Day Itinerary for Munnar in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Eravikulam National Park
    30 minutes (8.5 miles) from Munnar

    In the morning, head to Eravikulam National Park to see the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. This park is home to the largest population of these animals, and you may also spot other wildlife, such as sambar deer and Indian bison. In the afternoon, take a guided trek to Anamudi Peak, the highest peak in South India. The trek takes around 4 hours and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding tea plantations and valleys. In the evening, visit the Tea Museum to learn about the history and production of tea in Munnar.

  2. Day 2: Mattupetty Dam and Kundala Lake
    35 minutes (12 miles) from Eravikulam National Park

    Start the morning with a visit to Mattupetty Dam, a popular tourist spot that offers stunning views of the dam and the surrounding hills. You can take a boat ride to enjoy the scenic beauty of the dam and its surroundings. In the afternoon, visit Kundala Lake, a serene and picturesque lake surrounded by lush green hills. You can hire a pedal boat or a shikara and enjoy a peaceful ride on the lake. In the evening, visit the Top Station viewpoint to enjoy the beautiful sunset and panoramic views of the Western Ghats.

  3. Day 3: Echo Point and Tea Plantations
    20 minutes (6.5 miles) from Kundala Lake

    Begin your day with a trip to Echo Point, a scenic spot surrounded by hills and tea plantations. As the name suggests, this is a place where you can hear your own voice echoing back to you. In the afternoon, visit the tea plantations and learn about the process of tea-making from the tea pickers. You can also take a guided tour of the tea factories to see how tea leaves are processed and packed. In the evening, enjoy a cup of freshly brewed tea while taking in the stunning views of the tea gardens.

If you have time, you can also visit the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary and the Marayoor Sandalwood Forests. You can also take a day trip to the nearby hill stations of Thekkady and Vagamon.
