5-Day Family Friendly Itinerary for Nepal in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Kathmandu Durbar Square
    10 minutes (3.5 km) from Tribhuvan International Airport

    In the morning, visit the Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that boasts spectacular Hindu temples and palaces. In the afternoon, head to Thamel, a shopping district filled with vibrant stores selling traditional Nepali handicrafts.   2. Day 2: Swayambhunath Stupa
    15 minutes (4.8 km) from Kathmandu Durbar Square

    Start the day with a visit to the Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as the Monkey Temple, which offers panoramic views of Kathmandu Valley. In the afternoon, visit the Garden of Dreams, a neo-classical garden just a few blocks from Thamel. In the evening, head to Pashupatinath Temple to witness the Aarati, a Hindu religious ritual.

  3. Day 3: Bhaktapur Durbar Square
    20 minutes (13.5 km) from Swayambhunath Stupa

    Travel to Bhaktapur Durbar Square, another UNESCO World Heritage Site filled with ancient temples and courtyards. In the afternoon, visit the Changu Narayan Temple, the oldest temple in the Kathmandu Valley. In the evening, relax at the Kopan Monastery and enjoy the beautiful sunset over the city.

  4. Day 4: Chitwan National Park
    5 hours (150 km) from Bhaktapur Durbar Square

    Take a full-day trip to Chitwan National Park, one of the best wildlife reserves in Asia. You can spot Bengal tigers, Asian rhinos, and elephants in their natural habitats. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Tharu cultural program and a bonfire under the stars.

  5. Day 5: Pokhara
    5 hours (160 km) from Chitwan National Park

    Drive to Pokhara and take a boat ride on Phewa Lake, the second largest lake in Nepal. Visit the World Peace Pagoda, a Buddhist stupa that offers panoramic views of the Himalayas. In the evening, visit the Gurkha Memorial Museum and enjoy dinner at one of the many lakeside restaurants.

You can also take a scenic mountain flight from Kathmandu to Mount Everest for breathtaking views of the world's highest peak.
