3-Day Itinerary for Rameshwaram in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Ramanathaswamy Temple
    5 minutes (0.6 miles) from Rameshwaram Railway Station

    In the morning, visit the Ramanathaswamy Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlinga temples in India. Explore the grand corridors and the 22 holy wells that are believed to have medicinal properties. In the afternoon, head to Pamban Bridge, the longest sea bridge in India. Enjoy the scenic views of the Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal. In the evening, relax at Dhanushkodi Beach and watch the sunset over the ocean.

  2. Day 2: Kothandaramaswamy Temple and Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial
    25 minutes (9.5 miles) from Ramanathaswamy Temple

    Start your day by visiting the Kothandaramaswamy Temple, a beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Rama. The temple is located on the shores of the Bay of Bengal and offers stunning views of the sea. In the afternoon, head to the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial, a museum dedicated to the former President of India, who was born in Rameshwaram. The museum showcases his life, achievements, and contributions to science. In the evening, go for a walk on the beach and enjoy some local street food.

  3. Day 3: Annai Indira Gandhi Road Bridge and Gandhamadhana Parvatham
    35 minutes (13 miles) from Kothandaramaswamy Temple

    On your last day, head to Annai Indira Gandhi Road Bridge, a beautiful bridge that connects Rameshwaram Island to the mainland. Enjoy a walk on the bridge and take in the stunning views of the Palk Strait. In the afternoon, visit Gandhamadhana Parvatham, a small hill that is believed to have the footprints of Lord Rama. The temple on top of the hill offers panoramic views of Rameshwaram Island. In the evening, visit the local markets and buy some souvenirs to take back home.

If you have time, you can also visit the Kanyakumari temple, Vivekananda Rock Memorial, and Thiruparankundram Murugan Temple, which are all located within driving distance from Rameshwaram. You can also take a boat tour to explore the nearby islands. To maximize your fun, try some of the local delicacies such as seafood, dosa, and filter coffee. Lastly, don't forget to carry sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses as it can get hot and sunny in June.
