The Vaishno Devi Temple is a famous Hindu temple dedicated to the Hindu goddess, Maa Vaishno Devi. Millions of pilgrims visit this temple every year. The temple is located in a cave on the Trikuta Mountains. It is a 12 km trek from the base camp of Katra. The trek is very scenic and takes around 4-6 hours depending on your fitness level.
The Bhairavnath Temple is situated around 2.5 km from the Vaishno Devi Temple. It is believed that the pilgrimage to Vaishno Devi is incomplete without visiting the Bhairavnath Temple. The temple is dedicated to Lord Bhairav, who is considered to be the protector of the holy shrine. The temple offers a stunning view of the Trikuta Mountains.
The Ardh Kuwari Cave is situated at a distance of 6 km from the Bhairavnath Temple. The cave is a natural formation and is around 15 feet long. It is believed that Maa Vaishno Devi meditated in this cave for nine months before killing the demon, Bhairav. There are several small shrines inside the cave.
If you have time, you can also visit the Himkoti viewpoint, which is located around 2 km from the Bhawan. You can also visit the Baba Dhansar Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is situated around 17 km from Katra. You can also take a side trip to Patnitop, which is a hill station located around 80 km from Katra.
