Exploring Mysore's Nature in June 2023

    Start your day by trekking up the Chamundi Hill, which offers a breathtaking view of Mysore and its surroundings. The hill is also home to the famous Chamundeshwari Temple, which is visited by thousands of devotees every year.

  2. 10:00AM: KRS Dam
    30 minutes (9.8 miles) from Chamundi Hill

    Visit the Krishna Raja Sagara Dam, built across the river Kaveri. The dam is a major source of water for Mysore and its neighbouring areas. The beautiful gardens surrounding the dam are a popular picnic spot among locals and tourists alike.

  3. 12:00PM: Brindavan Gardens
    10 minutes (4.1 miles) from KRS Dam

    Spend some time at the Brindavan Gardens, which is located adjacent to the KRS Dam. The gardens are known for their musical fountains, which come alive in the evenings. The gardens also have a boating facility.

  4. 2:00PM: Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary
    45 minutes (18.3 miles) from Brindavan Gardens

    Visit the Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary, which is home to a variety of migratory birds. Take a boat ride along the river Kaveri and spot some of the rarest birds in the world. The sanctuary also has a crocodile park.

  5. 4:00PM: Karanji Lake
    30 minutes (10.4 miles) from Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary

    End your day by visiting the Karanji Lake, which is located at the foot of the Chamundi Hill. The lake is home to more than 90 species of birds, making it a paradise for bird watchers. The lake also has a butterfly park and a boating facility.

If you are a wildlife enthusiast, you can also consider visiting the Bandipur National Park, which is a 2-hour drive from Mysore. The park is home to a variety of wildlife, including tigers, elephants, and leopards. Another popular side trip is visiting the nearby hill stations of Ooty and Coonoor. To maximize your fun, make sure to carry plenty of water, sunscreen, and wear comfortable shoes as you will be doing a lot of walking.
