Adventurous 3-Day Itinerary for Munnar in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Rock Climbing at Top Station
    1 hour 20 minutes (37.6 km) from Munnar Town

    In the morning, head to Top Station to kick off your adventure with rock climbing. With an altitude of 1700m, this spot offers a challenging climb to the summit. Take in the stunning views of the Western Ghats while you climb. In the afternoon, head to the Tea Museum to learn about the history of tea cultivation in the area. Finish off your day with a visit to the Eravikulam National Park which is home to the endangered Nilgiri Tahr.

  2. Day 2: Trek in the Kolukkumalai Tea Estate and camping
    1 hour 20 minutes (33.8 km) from Munnar Town

    Begin your day with a trek in the Kolukkumalai Tea Estate. Trek up the hill with tea gardens on both sides. Once you reach the top, you'll be greeted with a breathtaking view of the sunrise. In the afternoon, take a visit to the Mattupetty Dam and enjoy boating. Finish the day with an overnight camping experience at the tea estate, complete with a campfire and stargazing.

  3. Day 3: Mountain Biking at Anamudi Shola National Park
    1 hour 50 minutes (48.9 km) from Munnar Town

    On your last day, head to Anamudi Shola National Park to experience the thrill of mountain biking. With a range of trails, from intermediate to advanced, there's something for every level of biker. In the afternoon, visit the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary and take a trek around to spot various species of animals such as spotted deer and the grizzled giant squirrel. Finish your day with a visit to the Tea Garden, one of the oldest tea plantations in Munnar.

If you have more time, you can also visit the Attukal Waterfalls, which is a beautiful sight to see. You can also take a side trip to the nearby hill station of Kodaikanal and indulge in some trekking and camping. For a more relaxed experience, try visiting the Ayurvedic spas and wellness centers in the town. Make sure to bring appropriate gear, especially for trekking and camping. There are plenty of shops in the town where you can buy or rent gear if you don't have your own. Lastly, the best way to maximize your fun is to start your day early to get the most out of each activity.
