4-Day Varanasi Itinerary in November 2023

  1. Day 1: Visit Kashi Vishwanath Temple
    5 minutes (0.6 miles) from Varanasi Junction Railway Station

    In the morning, head to Kashi Vishwanath Temple to seek blessings of Lord Shiva. This temple is one of the most famous Hindu temples and is highly revered by devotees. The afternoon can be spent exploring the nearby markets that sell Banarasi silk sarees, handicrafts and street food. In the evening, take a boat ride on the Ganges River and witness the spectacular aarti ceremony.

  2. Day 2: Discover Sarnath
    30 minutes (6.6 miles) from Varanasi Junction Railway Station

    Visit the ancient city of Sarnath, where Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon. Start the day by exploring the Dhamekh Stupa, Chaukhandi Stupa and Mulagandha Kuti Vihar. In the afternoon, visit the Sarnath Museum that houses ancient Buddhist artifacts and sculptures. Spend the evening exploring the local markets and trying out some popular street food like chaat, lassi and paan.

  3. Day 3: See the Ghats and Temples
    20 minutes (2.6 miles) from Sarnath

    Begin the day with a morning boat ride on the Ganges to see the sunrise and witness the morning rituals of devotees. After that, visit the Assi Ghat, Manikarnika Ghat and Dasaswamedh Ghat. You can also visit the Bharat Mata Temple, Durga Temple, and Tulsi Manas Temple. In the evening, stroll through the buzzing streets of Varanasi and shop for souvenirs.

  4. Day 4: Explore Ramnagar Fort and Museum
    45 minutes (8.5 miles) from Varanasi Junction Railway Station

    On the final day, visit the Ramnagar Fort and Museum to witness the rich history of Varanasi. The fort has been the home of the royal family of Varanasi for generations and the museum houses a vast collection of vintage cars, weapons, and artifacts. In the afternoon, head back to Varanasi and visit the Alamgir Mosque and the Kedar Ghat. In the evening, enjoy a cultural show at the Ganges River.
