Discovering Kanyakumari in Two Days

Explore the southernmost tip of India in Kanyakumari, where the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal, and Indian Ocean meet. Visit famous temples, monuments, beaches, and witness the breathtaking sunrise and sunset.

  1. Day 1: Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Thiruvalluvar Statue
    Located at the confluence of the Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal, and Arabian Sea, the Vivekananda Rock Memorial is a serene place of meditation and reflection. Take a ferry to reach the memorial, which is dedicated to Swami Vivekananda, a renowned Hindu philosopher. 10 minutes (1.3 miles) from Kanyakumari Beach.

    In the morning, bask in the beauty of the sunrise from the ferry. After visiting the memorial, head to Thiruvalluvar Statue, a 133-feet-tall monument dedicated to the Tamil poet and philosopher Thiruvalluvar. The statue stands on a small island, accessible via a ferry ride from the Vivekananda Rock Memorial. In the evening, witness the stunning sunset from the ferry.

  2. Day 2: Kanyakumari Beach and Padmanabhapuram Palace
    Kanyakumari Beach, also known as Cape Comorin Beach, is a must-visit spot in Kanyakumari. With its golden sand, vast shoreline, and crystal clear waters, take a refreshing swim or simply relax on the beach. 5 minutes (0.3 miles) from Vivekananda Rock Memorial.

    In the morning, enjoy a stroll along the beach and witness the stunning sunrise. Then, head to Padmanabhapuram Palace, a magnificent 16th-century palace located in Thuckalay. The palace features murals, intricate carvings, and is a fine example of traditional Kerala architecture. 1 hour (36.5 miles) from Kanyakumari Beach. In the evening, head back to Kanyakumari Beach for another sunset view.

Other attractions you can consider visiting are the Suchindram Temple, a famous Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, and Mathur Aqueduct, a scenic spot for a picnic with an excellent view of the surrounding countryside.
