Kanyakumari is known for its beautiful beaches and the Cape of Comorin is a must-visit destination here. This is the southernmost tip of mainland India and the convergence of Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea can be witnessed here. The Vivekananda Rock Memorial is located nearby and it is best to combine these two when exploring the area. The towering statue of Thiruvalluvar, marks the spot where the three seas meet. Boating is available for a scenic ride to the rock memorial, which houses a meditation hall that offers a breathtaking view of the sea.
Padmanabhapuram Palace is a majestic wooden palace that showcases the traditional architecture and art of Kerala. Spread over a sprawling area, it boasts of intricate carvings on wood and beautiful murals. After the palace visit, head over to the Suchindram Temple which is known for its towering Gopuram and the huge statue of Hanuman. The temple also houses the sculptures of various gods and goddesses. It is best to visit the temple during the morning or evening aarti to experience the charm of the temple and its surroundings.
If you have more time, you can also visit the Bhagavathy Amman Temple and witness the art-rich architecture of the temple covering 2000 years of the ancient Dravidian civilization. Or visit the Udayagiri Fort which has a huge garden and the architectural beauty of ancient palaces.
If you have less time, visit the Gandhi Memorial, which is nearby and showcases the life of the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi, through pictures and artefacts.
