Two Days in Kanyakumari

  1. Day 1: Kanyakumari Sunrise Point
10 minutes (2.5 km) from Kanyakumari Railway Station

Start your day early to witness the mesmerizing sunrise at the southernmost tip of India, Kanyakumari Sunrise Point. This is the point where the Bay of Bengal, Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea meet. The view is breathtaking and will be an unforgettable experience. Afterwards, visit the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, located on an island rock around 400 meters from Kanyakumari shore. The 133 feet tall statue of Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar is located nearby and you can climb up to the pedestal for a great view of the surroundings.

  2. Day 2: Kanyakumari Beach & Thirparappu Waterfalls
20 minutes (15 km) drive from Kanyakumari Sunrise Point

Start your day with a visit to the Kanyakumari Beach, located in the heart of Kanyakumari Town. The beach is not ideal for swimming but the view is magnificent, surrounded by views of the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, the Thiruvalluvar Statue, and the Church of South India. Later, visit Thirparappu Waterfalls located just a 30-minute drive from Kanyakumari Beach. The waterfall is a scenic delight, cascading down a height of around 50 feet and spreads into a vast pool beneath. You can spend a few hours here, have a picnic and take a dip in the pool.

Useful tips

If you have additional time, visit the Padmanabhapuram Palace, which is about an hour's drive from Kanyakumari. Spread over an area of 6.5 acres, it is one of the best examples of traditional Kerala architecture. A visit to the Gandhi Memorial Mandapam located at the Kanyakumari Beach, built to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi's last visit to Kanyakumari, is also worth a trip. If you have less time, skip the Thirparappu Waterfalls and spend more time exploring Kanyakumari Beach and watching the sunset.
