Kanyakumari for Families - 2 Day Itinerary in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Vivekananda Rock Memorial
    Located off the coast of Kanyakumari

    Morning: Begin your day with a boat ride to the Vivekananda Rock Memorial to experience the breathtaking views of the ocean. This iconic monument is dedicated to Swami Vivekananda, and houses a statue of him along with a meditation hall and art gallery.

    Afternoon: Head back to Kanyakumari Beach to relax and enjoy a picnic with your family. You can also indulge in some water sports like swimming and surfing.

    Evening: Witness the sunset at the southernmost tip of India, where the Arabian Sea, the Indian Ocean, and the Bay of Bengal converge. The best spot for this is the Kanyakumari beach, where you can also catch a Kathakali performance.

  2. Day 2: Thiruvalluvar Statue
    Located off the coast of Kanyakumari
    5 minutes (0.6 miles) from Vivekananda Rock Memorial

    Morning: Take a boat ride to the Thiruvalluvar Statue, one of the tallest statues in India. The statue is dedicated to the famous Tamil poet, philosopher, and saint, Thiruvalluvar. You can climb to the top for panoramic views of the ocean.

    Afternoon: Visit the Padmanabhapuram Palace, which is just 35 km from Kanyakumari. This wooden palace was the seat of the Travancore rulers, and is famous for its intricate carvings, murals, and antique furniture.

    Evening: End your day with a visit to the Kanyakumari Devi Temple, one of the 108 Shakti peethas in India. The temple is dedicated to the goddess Kanyakumari, who is believed to be an incarnation of Parvati, the consort of Lord Shiva.
